Over 60% of children with disabilities in India are estimated to drop out of school, often due to lack of timely identification and tailored support.

Inclusive Minds Program

In India, an estimated 12 million children live with disabilities, yet the vast majority of learning differences go undiagnosed, particularly in mainstream schools serving low and medium-income families. This leads to years of academic struggle, social exclusion, and high dropout rates.

Why this Matters

Layer 1: Identification & Awareness

We start by building capacity at the school and family level.

  • Rigorous Screening: Graduate interns, trained in evidence-based tools, screen students for conditions like ADHD, Autism (ASD), and specific learning disorders (SpLDs).

  • Empowering Stakeholders: We host awareness workshops for teachers, parents, and administrators to reduce stigma, dispel myths, and recognize diverse learning needs.

  • IEP Development: Collaborative creation of Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique academic, emotional, and behavioral needs of each child.

Layer 2: Support & Accommodation

Once identified, students receive targeted, integrated support both in and out of the classroom.

  • Differentiated Instruction: Interns coach teachers on integrating inclusive practices like adaptive tools and differentiated instruction into the regular classroom setting.

  • Remedial Pull-Out Sessions: Children receive focused support from trained special educators on specific concepts and learning techniques to close knowledge gaps.

  • Holistic Guidance: Practical resources and guidance are provided to parents, ensuring a consistent roadmap of support between the school and home environments.

Layer 3: Monitoring & Evaluation

We track progress to ensure effectiveness and use data to advocate for broader systemic change.

  • Progress Tracking: Regular assessments measure the academic, behavioral, and social progress of students against their baselines.

  • Actionable Insights: Data is synthesized into detailed reports that inform the continuous refinement of intervention strategies, ensuring responsiveness to emerging needs.

  • Systemic Advocacy: We use our evidence and success stories to influence educational policies and promote the mandatory integration of inclusive practices across the education system.

The Inclusive Minds Program is a strategic initiative designed to close critical gaps in education for children with Intellectual Disabilities (IDs) across India. Through a unique three-tiered framework—Identification, Tailored Support, and Monitoring—the program mobilizes graduate student interns, educators, and parents to deliver essential psycho-educational support. Our goal is to dismantle social stigma, ensure academic inclusion, and create sustainable learning environments where every child, regardless of difference, is equipped to succeed.

Program's Approach

is designed to change this trend

27% of children with disabilities between the ages of 5 and 19 have never attended any educational institution.
